Day 1 – Cairo: Arrival in Cairo. We will be transferred to our hotel for the first two nights. The rest of the day is at leisure giving you the opportunity to discover some of the excitement of Egypt’s capital city or to visit some of her many interesting sights, including Saladin’s Citadel or Cairo’s Islamic quarter, which boasts the World Heritage listing.
Day 2 – Cairo/Luxor: Transfer to Cairo airport to board our flight to Luxor. On arrival, we will be met and transferred to the Nile Cruiser. Modern Luxor, built upon the ancient city of Thebes, is host to the largest collection of ancient buildings in the world. The first tastes of these breathtaking monuments will be an afternoon guided tour to both Karnak and Luxor Temples.
Day 3 – Luxor/Esna: In the morning, we cross the Nile to the West Bank to see the Valley of the Kings where the tombs of at least 60 ancient Pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, are locate. Today’s excursion highlights include visits to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossie of Memnon. In the afternoon we set sail from Luxor to Esna.
Day 4 – Esna/Edfu: Today starts with a visit to the Temple of the god Khnum at Esna, which contains many interesting reliefs and inscriptions. Then it’s back on board for the short cruise down to Edfu to view the Temple of Horus. Dating from 327BC, this is the most completely preserved temple in Egypt, being in near perfect condition. Later, we sail for Kom Ombo.
Day 5 – Edfu/Aswan: Set on a sweeping bend in the Nile, the Temple of Kom Ombo is dedicated jointly to Horus and the crocodile-headed god, Sobek. The guided tour this morning will bring the temple’s rich history to life. Lunch is served on board during the short trip south to Aswan. In the afternoon we visit the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and the magnificent Temple of Philae.
Day 6 – Aswan: Today starts early with a return flight or bus to the Abu Simbel. The bus departs the hotel at 3 in the morning for a sunrise trip to this famous site. A breakfast package will be provided and we have 2 hours for exploring. The bus departs Abu Simbel at 10 in the morning. Flights depart at 7 in the morning and return at midday. In the afternoon, we rest. Later, we will be transferred to Aswan airport for the short flight to Abu Simbel. On arrival, we tranfer to the Nile Cruiser for dinner and a night on board. We have a full day of relaxin, with a visit to Advo Temple.
Day 7 – Aswan/Edfu: After breakfast this morning, we embark on a short felucca cruise around Elephantine Island and Kitchener’s Island from where we may see the spendid botanical gardens or view the Aga Khan Mausoleum which is situated on the western bank of the Nile. By the afternoon we start sailing back to Edfu.
Day 8 – Esna/Luxor: Today we will sail to Luxor, what we will reach in the evening. Our last night is spend in Luxor.
Day 9 – Luxor/Cairo: After breakfast, we disembark the Nile Cruiser in Luxor and transfer to the airport to board our flight to Cairo. On arrival in Cairo we will be transferred back to the hotel. Then, we visit the Giza plain for a magical opportunity to view the Pyramids and the ancient Sphinx. In the afternoon, we will visit the Egyptian Museum. In the evining we suggest a visit to the famed Khan el Khalili bazaar for a chance to buy anything from jewellery to exquisite hand-blown Egyptian glass.
Day 10 – Cairo: Check out of the hotel after breakfast. We will be transferred to Cairo airport for the return flight.
